A sheepdog has sold in Wales for the staggering sum of £19,451 (NZ$37,500).
The price tag means the border collie from Brecon – named Elan Valley Sally – is officially the most expensive sheepdog in the world, according to BBC news.
Sally was bought by an unknown buyer at the Farmers’ Mart online sale Dolgellau, Gwynedd, in Wales.
The dog was sold by the handler David Evans, the BBC reported.
The average price for a working dog in the UK is £2000 (NZ$3900), with the previous record for the most expensive dog going to the shepherdess Emma Gray in February. She was sold for a whopping £18,900 (NZ$36,500).
Last year in New Zealand a heading dog named Jack made history after selling for $10,000 – the highest price paid in the 63-year history of the annual Ashburton Sheep and Cattle Dog Sale.
