As an animal lover and a pet parent, we always want to be feeding our fur babies the highest quality food to promote their good health. It can be a challenge to figure out what is best for them to eat, but luckily for cat parents, one woman is sharing her wisdom.

On Thursday, September 8, cat nutritionist and TikTok user @missfeministkitty shared a video with some important information. In the clip, she explains what’s the four worst cat food ingredients and why they should be avoided and limited. All cat parents will want this information!

Wow, this is such important health information! This cat nutritionist says that fish-based foods should be limited, contrary to popular belief, and foods with excessive carbohydrates, wheat gluten, and plant based protein sources should be avoided. We’ll be sure to cut these ingredients out of our cats’ diets immediately!

In the video, she explains that these ingredients don’t add any nutritional value to a feline diet and can actually be doing more harm than good. For example, cats don’t have a dietary requirement for carbs, but many cat food brands add it because it is cheap and can help dry food stick together. However, large amounts of carbs place cats’ metabolism under stress and should only make up a small part of the food.

Feeding your cats a proper diet is essential for their overall health and well-being. Cats have specific dietary requirements, including essential nutrients like protein and taurine, that must be met to ensure they thrive.

Listening to experts and following their recommendations regarding what to feed your feline companions is crucial because they possess the knowledge and experience necessary to make informed dietary choices. A balanced and appropriate diet can help prevent various health issues while also ensuring your cats maintain a healthy weight and enjoy a longer, happier life.

It’s not only a matter of their taste preferences but a fundamental aspect of responsible pet ownership to prioritize their nutritional needs. There’s nothing better than knowing you’re doing the best you can for your cats!
