NEW SUMMER FESTIVAL WELCOMES DOGS

If your four-legged friend feels left out when you party at Bay Dreams, Jucy Fest or One Love this summer, there’s a new kind of festival making its debut in Mount Maunganui which will welcome dogs.
Woof Fest is New Zealand’s first “human and dog festival”, says organiser Brylee Mills, and is coming to Mount Maunganui on November 12 at Trustpower Baypark.
Brylee and her fellow organiser, partner Alby Ryan, are experienced hands in the event industry, and have previously been involved in some of New Zealand’s most popular music festivals.
“We love doggos,” says Brylee, “and with a background in organising some of Aotearoa’s biggest music festivals we decided it was time to come up with something that the doggos could come along too as well.”
The festival will entertain both dogs and their families, and will include an adventure playground, marketplace, demonstrations and a designated kids zone.
“On top of that you’ll be able to settle down in our garden area with an amazing range of human food,” says Brylee.
Dogs will not go hungry either, with a range of goodies on offer.
The festival will also a act as a fundraiser for Assistance Dogs New Zealand – a trust which breeds, trains and places dogs to support people with disabilities.
“We are proud to have Assistance Dogs NZ Trust as our lead charity sponsor for 2022,” says Brylee.
“A percentage of ticket sales will be donated to this amazing cause alongside having ADNZT on site at the event showcasing the amazing work that they do.”
The organisers said they can cater for thousands of festival goers and their furry friends.
Dogs will be required to be on a lead, but there will also be designated areas for them to be off lead.
